At the beginning of the summer of 2008, Polkura Hill was affected by a fire that threatened the vineyard and came very close to the area where Malbec is planted. Thanks to several neighbors, a disaster was avoided. Although Malbec had always been an important component in Polkura Syrah blends, after this event, this remarkable Malbec deserved to be bottled on its own.
